Governance
UK-VCSR operates under a light-touch governance framework designed to ensure credibility and public trust without acting as a regulatory authority.
An independent advisory group with veterinary, ethical, and research expertise oversees inclusion criteria and registry policy. Membership details will be published following formal establishment of the group.
- Veterinary clinical studies conducted in or relevant to the UK
- Declaration of ethical review pathway (e.g. AWERB)
- Complete minimum dataset at submission
- Accurate contact information for the study team
Curators verify completeness and clarity of submissions. They do not assess scientific quality or confer approval. This registry does not confer ethical or regulatory approval of any study.
UK-VCSR complies with existing Data Protection legislation in the UK. Whilst we collect some personal information (e.g. e-mail address), we do not collect and will never request any personal sensitive information.
We are conscious that commercial sponsors may be concerned about a disclosure of commercially sensitive information. In order to address these concerns, we offer the option of "Deferred Registration". A similar scheme is operated by the UK-based human clinical research registry ISRCTN. The scheme provides an option to defer a commercial study registration for a defined period of time. If you would like to explore the deferred registration option, please contact us. We encourage all commercial sponsors to register their study as this has the potential to aid participant recruitment.
