Study overview
Chronic kidney disease is one of the most common conditions affecting older cats. This interventional study compares a renal-supportive therapeutic diet against standard maintenance nutrition in cats with IRIS stage 2–3 CKD. The primary outcome is the rate of decline in renal function over 12 months, with secondary measures including appetite, body weight, and owner-reported quality of life. Recruitment is expected to open in mid-2026 across participating practices in Wales.
